The origin
Old West Side, good clothes, hard math.
Fontaine's world runs through family, tailoring, music rooms, and the quiet cost of keeping your own name on your work. Isaiah Fontaine, Evelyn Fontaine, Lorraine, and Marcus sit close to the center of the file. So do Lucien Baptiste, Mrs. Odessa Bell, CeCe Monroe, Camille Price, and Victor Lane.
The Night Ledger was a local spoken-storytelling and live-music room. The Royal Palace was the proving ground. It was not celebrity mythology and it was not a criminal biography. It was a Detroit room, a working band, a voice learning the difference between holding attention and having something worth saying.
Visual canon
The car, the ring, the arrival.
The first owned Cadillac in the file is a 1978 Coupe deVille. The modern signature car is a black 1985 Fleetwood Brougham d'Elegance. When the plate is visible, it reads SLICK.
The signature jewelry is a ruby-red diamond-shaped ring worn on the right ring finger, inscribed inside with KEEP YOUR HAND STEADY. The clothes are not costume. They are intention made visible.
